Transport and Co2

Transport and Co2 footprint

Transport and carbon footprint

The best way to produce straw panels is to use local materials. In order to build up a market, we are dependent on importing the straw panels from Lithuania in Europe at the moment. We hope to build the first production line for the US in New York in 2027.

  • We can ship walls for a 1300 Sq Ft home in one container.

  • A 1300 Sq Ft EcoCocon straw panel home will store (11,780Kg Co2) 25,972 lb of CO2.

  • This amount is comparable to what 13 trees are able to sequester over 40 years.

When we think about the straw panels coming from Europe, we think there will be a big carbon footprint, but shipping from the Factory of EcoCocon to the port in New York is the same footprint as a freight truck driving 400 miles.

Co2 footprint for one container from EcoCocon in Europe to the US

A 1300 Sq Ft EcoCocon straw panels home will store (11,780Kg Co2) 25,972 lb of CO2.

With the transport how much pound of Co2 still stored in the building

From the EcoCocon factory to New York port:  655 kg -  1444 lb Co2 24,528 lb of Co2

From the EcoCocon factory to Los Angeles port: 14,564 km 988 kg - 2178 lb Co2 23,794 lb of Co2

From the EcoCocon factory to San Francisco port: 14,890 km 1017 kg - 2242 lb Co2 23,730 lb of Co2

From the EcoCocon factory to Oklahoma City with ship, truck and train: 3946 kg - 8692 lb Co2 13,334 lb of Co2
